De-
Some dogs coats become knotted (matted) over a period of time. This can be due to the topcoat, undercoat, dirt, burrs, loose hair and just about anything your dog may have gotten into amassing.
This changes the appearance of the coat and can make your pet “untidy”. More importantly, if left un addressed it can cause the dog discomfort.
Some coats are just plain high maintenance and much more vulnerable to the problem. Long, silky or double coats fall into this arena, as do dogs that like to play in the water. Wet hair tends to stick together and before you know it, a mat follows.
Prior to bathing, clipping or stripping, these mats have to be removed.
